The ambiance is so nice and very accomodating love to go back. The love is so clean and relaxing. Their not rushing even we' came late

We were looking for a new place to try in San Mateo and came across this cozy place on Third Avenue. We used Yelp Waitlist which was very convenient. The hostess was nice and kept us informed of our wait time which was around 20 minutes on a Friday evening. Not bad! Perusing through Yelp reviews we were equipped with what to order. Here are our top choices: Teppanyaki Calamari which was tasty and done right. My husband and I ordered a second round of Charcoal Grilled Ribeye which was delicious. My husband also liked the Tontoro (Pork Cheek). The Charcoal Grilled Tomato and Okra balanced the meat skewers. The Salt & Pepper Green Beans and Salt & Pepper Tofu were seasoned just right, not overpowering at all. We also ordered the Yakitoro Lucky Combo but other than the chicken thigh with green onion and the chicken wings, we were not big fans of the other skewers in this combo. We hope they add chargoal grilled chicken liver skewers to their menu soon. There were a lot of other choices in their menu which is accessible via a QR code. Convenience in ordering and in adding more items as well as getting the bill at the end. Our server was very attentive and makes sure to let us know what they were serving us. We will certainly be back to try other items in their menu.

I haven't had skewers in a while and a friend recommended this spot to me so here I am. Ordering here is pretty simple. They give you a QR code in which you can submit your order. I ordered the Yakitori Lucky Combo, pineapple wagyu w/rose salt pepper, Hokkaido scallop w/hokkaido uni on top, and the kamo (duck breast). All of the skewers were amazing. My favorite had to be the yakitori lucky combo. The assort of textures from each skewer was just immaculate. The service here was pretty good also. My server was very kind and attentive. The restaurant from the outside looks small but when you go inside there is both upstairs and downstairs seating. And the place is nicely designed. Surprisingly the place wasn't busy which is surprising because the skewers here are pretty good lol. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you haven't already. Try it out if you like. :)

Generous servings and great food, friendly staff. The beef tongue curry rice is tender and has perfect egg soft texture. Fried chicken knee cartilage was a hit. Also loved lucky 7 combo. Great chicken skin, gizzard, heart, meatballs. Ramen is huge! super generous serving enough for 2 people, the flavor is light and not too salty. Kid friendly with a kid's high chair available.

Late night eats! That's what's up! When bf gets off at 8 pm, where do we go? Yelp to the rescue! That's how I found Izakaya Fusion Grill Keitan. Then we noticed that if we arrive at 10pm, it's Happy Hour! 50% off chicken skewers and BOGO beer deal! They start you off with complimentary kimchi and wasabi peanuts. Great to munch on with beer. But we didn't order any beer as late night drinking will end up being middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom! So we skipped the beer. But if you can handle it, why not?! Here's what we ordered: Crispy eggplant, crispy tempura green beans, chicken wings (2), chicken with green onions (2), pork belly, vermicelli scallop with garlic sauce, Kawa chicken skin (2), charcoal grilled ribeye, pork cheek and clams with vermicelli. Everything was YUMMY! The meat was tender, especially the ribeye. My only complaint would be the eggplant being too greasy. The rest was very good! Chicken skin was crispy and memorable. This place has an intimate atmosphere with Japanese pop playing in the background. It seems others also know about this place as a late-night spot, so there were patrons still floating in at 10 pm. I also signed up for free membership to get 5% off of the bill too! Next time, we'll be sure to bring our friends who enjoy yakitori!!
